"Her job is to support you after the birth, however you want or need,"
she says.
She goes on to tell you about how her postpartum doula checked in on her regularly, brought nourishing food, and answered her questions about what was happening to her body and if things were normal or not. She says that some postpartum doulas can stay overnight if you want nighttime support.
"Was it weird to have a stranger in your house like that, right after you just had a baby?" you ask.
"Not really," she answers. "I met with and got to know her a little before I hired her. She was always respectful of my privacy, and I was grateful to have someone who knew how to help around."
She continues. "I felt so loved and taken care of. And I had the help I needed so I could be the mom I wanted to be for my baby." She gets a little teary-eyed as she remembers it.
